The Strand Stores, Culmstock

The Strand Stores in Culmstock has an excellent café with wonderful homemade food and provides the ideal pitstop during a walk along the pretty river Culm.

Hemyock has a post office and store and a Spar, both of which carry a wide range of essentials. Honiton, the antiques centre of the West Country and renowned for its lace-making, is only 11 miles away and has a street market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The frequent farmers’ markets in all local towns are of course extremely well supported. The pretty towns of Sherborne, Topsham and Dartmouth are also popular destinations, while Axminster, the home of River Cottage, is just 30 minutes away.

Taunton and Exeter offer extensive shopping and leisure facilities, and Wellington (4 miles) has a selection of charming independent stores as well as banks and supermarkets including Waitrose.
